Another Great Video From Streetsblog
I am tempted to post almost everything I see on Streetsblog here because it’s such a great source of outside the box ideas on urban transportation and design issues. You notice pretty quickly how many great ideas to improve city life are comming out of the developing world, often from places that don’t have the luxury we have (or thought we had) to flaunt reality and waste money.
This Streetsblog film highlights an event in Bogota called Ciclovia which turns about 70 miles of city roads into a place for cyclists, skaters and all kinds of pedestrian activities once a week. Ciclovia gives people a chance to get together, see the city, excercise and reimagine the urban landscape. In America, it’s a rare public park that closes it’s roads to cars.
