Oh, Taxi
I saw a little lady who’s clearly spent her entire life living in the city and wondered how she’s managed to do it.
She’s using a walker now and there she was, strutting down the street with bags strapped to her back and the walker, looking ready for more. I wondered how anyone could spend a life walking everywhere, climbing stairs to apartments, climbing downstairs from apartments and still do it.
She’s got spunk and spirit, I tell you. I know I’m a wimp. The minute I start feeling the onset of knee or back pain that’s there to stay, I’ll be looking for a way to transition my life to a place where I can move from place to place on a Segway.
How do you foresee your life in a very pedestrian city as you age? Can you imagine doing it? I’d like to think I have decades before I’d even need to think about it but then I see a little lady like that just doing what she’s always done and wonder, “could I do it?”
