Holiday Movies
Aah, holiday time in New York, there is nothing like it. The brisk air, the crowded subway cars, getting bumped by overly large bags as you walk down the street… The NY Post has compiled this guide to all of the upcoming holiday activities, like the Tree Lighting at Rockefeller Center and the Holiday Market at Union Square.
But to me, what makes XMas time so exciting is the preponderance of great movies that are seemingly played on a loop on TBS, TNT, FX, and the other second-rate cable channels. It isn’t Christmas until you see Chevy Chase trying to turn on the juice to his overly decorated house, or Will Ferrell freaking out about Santa coming to the store because he “knows him.”
So, with the holidays approaching, I thought it would be interesting to see what NYers think is the best Christmas movie of all time… Please answer this poll (you can pick up to 2 movies) and once you vote, you will see what everyone else thought.

Die Hard, a Christmas movie?
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation thats such a guy movie. We love Kathy Ireland’s Once and Twice Upon A Christmas. It’s not a chick flick just a good family holiday movie.
@Neil: Yes, Die Hard was an Xmas movie. I say this because Xmas was integral to the plot of both Die Hard and Die Hard 2. So, “Yippee-ki-yay, motherf—er!”
@Joellen: I dont think Christmas Vacation is a guy movie. I mean, it is somewhat slapstick so it has “guy components” but I think it appeals to all. I refuse to endorse any movie that stars Kathy Ireland.
Hi,
All I can say is that my family and really enjoyed watching Once and Twice Upon A Christmas,
great movies and we love Kathy Ireland, she is a great Mom. Thanks, P.S. Mery Christmas to all.
well Noah, it looks like you have scorned the entire Kathy Ireland fanclub–beware!
They are a powerful lobby. I should watch my ass on this one.
You can’t really classify action movies in the Christmas genre. Drama and comedy and at most a PG-13 rating would be traditional christmas movies. Although I love Die Hard (and would rather see that then any of the others), I wouldn’t say its a Christmas movie.
It’s my bloggy and I’ll post how I want to…
I assume that was a reference to a song…so..
Big bloggers don’t cry

Kathy Ireland wasn’t in Christmas Vacation…She starred in Once Upon a Christmas. she’s great in the movie! I don’t know who you are thinking about.
There is also twice upon a Christmas starring Kathy Ireland as well, It just aired 2 nights ago on Lifetime. Great movies to watch during the Hollidays, my kids enjoyed it very much. Benjamin
Sorry, I don’t mean to offend, but Kathy Ireland sucks! I dont have kids, so maybe things would be different if I did (and they celebrated xmas), but I feel that there would be a million other things I would rather expose them to than Kathy Ireland’s bad acting!
“Dana, respect you girl.. fan club here though”
Rob–huh? Respect you grammar!
You tell him, Dana! I don’t know what he is talking about either. Is he saying that he is in your fan club? I didn’t know you had one, but if you do, where do I sign up?
