cmj : bowie + arcade fire = b.f.f.?
At last night’s CMJ Arcade Fire show at the Central Park Summerstage, David Bowie joined the band during their encore. As if the crowd wasn’t already excited enough to be seeing the Arcade Fire, the appearance of Bowie, covering one of his songs and joining in for “Wake Up” threw many spectators into fits of joy. The woman standing in front of me, who appeared to be there only to accompany her daughter, happened to be wearing a David Bowie concert t-shirt. When she saw him walk on stage, I felt a bit of fear for my life and she jumped and gyrated to express her Bowie love.
Unfortunately, my video of the song turned out to have a soundtrack of screaming fans instead of David Bowie’s voice.
here’s my own post about the arcade fire central park show. i hope this won’t be blocked because it’s not spam, it’s related to this entry.

OS – great recap. I’m sorry that I didn’t get a chance to do a fuller write-up of CMJ while I was in NYC, but internet access at my friend’s couch was a little bit spotty. It was an excellent show, even without the Bowie appearance. With it, it was incredible.
