I was at the shack this weekend. It was a great day. A couple of friends were meeting up there….and it was a great day to be outside and we had to have a burger…so we all ended up there. I know there are like a million places out there in NYC which might serve up a decent burger but i love the shack – their portobello especially.
Anyways, the down part – the wait time is waaaaaaaaayyy too long! I mean waiting for a burger for about 20-30min is alrite but we ended up waiting for an hour and a half!

It would just be awesome if they could downsize their turnaround time but then, hey, at the end of the day, i did wait the hour and half! phew!

Hey Everyone!
Have any of you registered for the Aids Walk New York on May 20th? I am in and my team name is Disha. Anyone willing to walk a couple of hours in the sunshine, are welcome to join my team or walk individually! It starts at Central Park and ends at the same place.

Also, I do not wish to solicit, but since this is for a good cause, make this an exception:
You can directly contribute to the event or volunteer for it. You can come for the walk and walk with Whoopi Goldberg :-) You can also help me raise a few cents worth to help the cause. Please click Here if you wish to do so.
Again, it is entirely up to each individual’s perception of making a donation or not. You would have made a difference to someone if you do, but you may also think, what does it matter? I am appealing to the people of the first kind.

Any help is welcome. We are the present – lets make our future a safe place.

Now I do know that we all here are big fans of the US Open and probably had been to at least one match at the Arthur Ashe stadium. We all also know that it is a clay court and arguably any clay court fan’s dream field to play in.
But this is the first time I am hearing about a customized tennis court that is half clay and half grass. Yes, you heard me right! This court has been specially designed for a match between Roger Federer (who rules the grass court) and Rafael Nadal (who happens to be a king on clay courts).
Click here to read more about this court.
I wonder if this would be an interesting match to watch. It is definitely unique though!

I was walking down the 6th this morning, when I saw a guy come and get into his Mercedes, start it and drive away – without using a key at all. Now i know keyless cars have been around for some time now and are picking up the buzz, but it didnt stop me from wondering – How does this technology work?

For starters, this is what i found on some popular auto sites -
“It lets drivers unlock cars by just walking up to them and touching a door handle. Drivers don’t need to push a button on their vehicle’s key fob or even take the fob out of their purse or pocket.
Mercedes, which is a pioneer in what it calls Keyless Go technology, offers the system on at least five 2005 vehicles, which is more than any other carmaker.
Option price is more than $1,000 on a Mercedes S430, but it’s just over $900 on Toyota’s Prius. In the Infiniti M cars, it’s standard. ”

But here is my question – The driver has to carry this “fob” thing with him to be able to unlock the car and do the magic. What if he/she forgot the fob, like we all forget our keys? I was thinking more on the lines of fingerprint technology. Would our future cars be keyless and operate/unlock based on just fingerprint recognition? That way, we eliminate the idea of carrying an irritating fob altogether? I dont know if this technology already has been implemented by some manufacturer? The technology exists – it is just putting it to the best benefit, that makes all the difference i guess!

I had an eye-opening visit yesterday, when I for the first time discovered how black a smoker’s lungs were compared to a non-smokers. Looking at the actual lungs…yep, I am talking about the “much talked about/everyone’s been there” bodies exhibition down by south street seaport. Considering this was my first outing after me getting back into the country (had to leave for an emergency to india, which explains my absence), it was pretty eye-opening.
The baby-infant section was acutely sensitive for me, I dont know how others felt about this one. The best part was where they extracted all the fibrous tissues and nerves in the wrist and palm, removed all the muscle.
In case I am talking about something which you all already know, excuse me for that. But the cool part is – Get a free round-trip MetroCard with your purchase of a ticket to see the Bodies Exhibition at the South Street Seaport

Apparently, we all either sit at home or visit friends the most. And interestingly, 0% actually did any outdoors regularly. Is this due to cold winter or come summer, will this change? I, for one, am a very outdoorsy person. I dont work the weekends and most of my friends are in Jersey, so we usually try to hit a trail or at least go on a long drive. Hopefully, that wont have to change! :-)

There are all sorts of bloggers out there. People blog for a variety of reasons. For fun, for information sharing, for venting out thoughts, for meeting new people, blah blah.

People read your blogs. It is true but you cannot believe it. Days go by and you have no response. Then to track people down, you install counters, stat trackers and other available freeware out there. Now you know, people ARE ACTUALLY reading your blog. But still, no response. Then finally, one day, you receive the email saying someone left a comment on your blog. You hurriedly go over and open to see who the other soul is. And???? Darn Spambots!

THE most exciting part of any blogger’s life is – when someone leaves them a comment. Correct me if I am wrong.

Now, there are boring blogs that dont encourage comments. I am not talking about those blogs. The blog that I am talking about is our very own NYC METBLOG! We all post stuff (try to) regularly. I have seen many good posts but what I have not seen is a ready participation via comments. I am not shouting out for comments here, but, maybe, an increased percentage in posting comments not only increases interest but also will encourage all of us to blog more. Increasing the number of posts thusly. Increasing the effectiveness of the bloggers thusly.

Someone should make a positive move on this issue. My idea to initiate some responses from our readers (and I had been intending to this for a while) is to collect POLLS. These are really interesting, offer a good way to collect people’s thoughts and it is just a click away.

My Dear Fellow Bloggers, Readers of Metblogs and the rest of the world!
If you happen to chance upon our blog, happen to like a post, would you happen to leave a comment to the respective blogger?
To answer this question, please select from the POLL options.
GO TO THE POLL

Let us see how much participation we get out of this one!
