I swear I saw the very same sign on that bridge, only I was going the opposite direction out of Manhattan at the time! And I remember thinking, do these guys know what borough this is?
Nah, Marty got his way. Crossing the brooklyn bridge into brooklyn on the back of my bf’s scooter i always get to see “Welcome to Brooklyn: How Sweet It Is!”
Marie–when did you see the same sign leaving Manhattan?
Jeremey and Anna–I have seen the signs you speak of too. Also, supposedly there is one on the Kosciuszko Bridge coming from Queens that says “Welcome to Brooklyn: Believe the Hype.”
But those are not the ones I am talking about. I am asking about the Oy Vey one as there seemed to be some very specific religious-related protest to that one. And I swear I’d never seen it before yesterday and the others have been up for a while.

I just happened upon this sight while looking for an answer to the very same question that you posed. I took a picture, and put it up on my own blog–

I don’t know either what the deal is, but it appears to be pretty official.

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen several signs like that up for a while now. Another one says something like, “Brooklyn. You name it, we’ve got it.”

It’s true, I saw it last night. It’s over the right lanes.
Thanks Jeff–good to know someone else saw it. Now if only we had a picture…
