Minimalist Protest-Wear Hits the Streets

The NYPD’s announcement that they would “randomly but routinely” search the bags of NYC commuters is just a few hours old, but people are already making shirts in protest of it. The Village Voice has all the info here and you can buy you shirt here.

to Quote a great New Yorker:

“I do believe I’ve passed the age,

    Of concienceness and rightious rage,

I found that just surviving was a noble fight.

I once believed in causes too,

I had my pointless point of view,

But life went on no matter who was wrong or right.”

Being an angry young man does not change the fact that one suicide bomber could end your civil rights forever. Chew on that dude (shirt creator)

Chris, that’s definitely a good point. But even security and law enforcement experts seems to agree that this is nothing more than “security theater” and the probability of catching someone through random searched is very low. I think money and effort would be better spent on increased police and MTA worker presence and surveillance, but that is just me.

I just read a New Yorker article on the NYPD and what they’re actually doing to prevent “terrorist” attacks in NYC is way more impressive than these lame-ass searches. Kelly is really on top of his shit.
