There was an impromptu march down Queens Blvd for a few blocks, led by Reverend Al Sharpton. Rev. Sharpton is encouraging peace, and discussion at the headquarters of the National Action Network in Harlem. By all accounts, the Bell family will pursue a civil case, for which there is not the same burden of proof. The commentators I listened to this morning are saying that they should be successful in a civil suit, and should also get some closure. In cases like this one, even a criminal conviction can't bring back the dead. But I pray that the Bell family can fight this on another level, and I also hope Mayor Bloomberg and the NYPD can make good on their promise to change things so this situation never happens again.
