The Show Must Go On

After a 19-day strike, stagehands are back - backstage. Tourists have happily returned to Broadway to see their favorite musicals.

I, however, am not so happy. I have tickets to see Pygmalion tonight, a show not affected by the theatre strike (something to do with their agreement with the union). I had looked forward to slightly less crowded Times Square streets, but alas, with the strike ending today, it maybe a very busy night in that area. I’m glad the strike ended; I just wish it didn’t have to be right on today.

Oh, well! I’ll be braving the crowds, since, afterall, the show must go on.

I visit Manhattan every Christmas for two weeks and attend at least 5 shows. I happily pour money into New York because I love the city. I eat food, stay in a hotel, ride the transit, walk all over the place, visit small shops and come home invigorated.

I am so happy to find that the stagehands strike has ended because I strongly support all members of the arts.

All of that said, if you think my visits as a tourist are a problem, please let me know.

I too am glad the strike is over..I love coming to New York City and staying in a hotel and spending money on shows and shopping, dining at the new restaurants.I live in San Francisco and it is good to visit before a cruise and/or after a cruise from the UK on the Queen Mary 2.We get most of the same shows here in SF,sometimes before Broadway, but it is always fun to see them on Broadway! I love New York, and lived there before moved back to Delaware[my home state] and eventually to SF where my lover lived.
