Key Foods Goes Green

earthbags.jpg

My local grocery store in Astoria, Key Foods, has started selling reusable grocery bags! This makes me very happy. I know plenty of larger stores, such as Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s, have had these green items for a while, but it’s good to see them trickling into smaller stores.

For the record, Key Food may be small in comparison with Whole Foods, but they’ve been around since 1937 all around NYC. There are more than 100 locations.

It’s not exactly the "smallest" business though.

I think if they started charging you for the plastic bags, people would be more aware. ;) It’s only gonna work through $$$.

I totally agree with you. I think it would definitely make sense to change for bags. People would complain, but they would go ahead and buy reusable bags.
