Save Yourself!

My fiance and I have been dealing with the least pleasant wedding task that we’ve handled yet - our save-the-dates. According to wedding etiquette, save-the-dates are not required, but they can certainly help your guests - particularly if you have a lot of guests who are traveling or who are just busy people.
We decided we would design a simple flat card and magnet for these reminders. At first, I had a lot of fun playing with a design program (Draw) and making quite a pretty image of a floral arrangement. We used a similar font and look to our invitations - all in a purpley tone that matches our wedding colors. Both the card and magnet looked great. But then the fun ended.
We printed out two cards per page, so they needed to be cut. We printed out the magnets on sheets of magnet paper, 18 on each, so they also needed to be cut. We tried getting both items professionally cut at Staples, pretty pricey, but we just thought it would look better.
The cards turned out beautifully, but the magnets - they did a terrible job! The edges were all crooked, so I’ve been trying to fix them with a simple scissors. Then, when I tried to put everything together in the envelopes (which we’d printed out one at a time at home) I sadly discovered that the cards were just slightly too big to fit in the envelopes! It was my fault for not making sure of this beforehand, but it meant that we had to recut all the beautiful cards. Each one, by hand. Quite a painstaking process!
So anyway, I’d recommend making sure of sizing beforehand (an obvious task, you would think). And if you do magnets (which I don’t suggest), they might come out better if you just cut them out yourself!
