Broadway Strike, Tourists entertained by Comedy Writers

writers_strike.jpgStagehands, those people that move pieces of furniture and set on Broadway shows between acts, are on strike. This does not effect some shows, but effects a majority of New York City’s iconic theater district.

But, since the Writer’s Guild is also on strike and protesting at nearby tourist hotspots such as Rockefeller Plaza, tourists can engage themselves at gawking/speaking with the writers on strike.

They really ARE a hilarious bunch. Look for the one who wrote the linked article, she gives her description in the last sentence.

I’m rather sad about the Broadway stagehands on strike. I have theater tickets for the end of this month and I’m worried the show will be canceled. It’s bad enough I can’t watch a new episode of Colbert! Don’t get me wrong - I fully support this writer’s strike, I just miss my dose of comedy news!

Talk about getting your point across!!!!!!!!!! AND showing the world how to ruin the holidays. My daughter and I have planned a trip to NYC for our 45th and 65th birthdays respectively. November 29th my daughter will be 45 yo and my gift to her was to see "Wicked". We have had reservations since April and will be traveling from Oregon. We are extremely disappointed, to say the least, that the "show will not go on". Hope you feel good about your actions!!!! However, as members of long time union families we both support unions.

Dee, that was the most fair & balanced comment I have ever read in my life. Good work. And sorry that you couldn’t watch Wicked to celebrate your birthdays.
