Ice Skating at Bryant Park

http://nyc.metblogs.com/archives/images/2007/11/bryant-park-iceskating-thumb.jpgThe Pond at Bryant Park (42nd and 6th) has been open now for a while for the public to enjoy for free. The real question is though have you tried it yet? You should, it’s really fun. But that’s not what I want to talk about right now.

Last night I stood in front of the ice rink as the Zamboni was finishing up its final duties and hundreds (or at least it looked like hundreds) of kids stood behind the boards waiting to be unleashed onto the ice.

I thought to myself that this is the perfect example of a mass bundle of potential energy. What would happen if the doors never opened? How would that potential energy be used? Probably in a boisterous and whining manner and then it would dissolve. But to watch that bundle of potential energy of these kids break out onto the ice with the incredible enthusiasm was just freaking heart warming.

You should definitely go and enjoy the great ambience even if you don’t care for skating on ice.

I bet I know who was driving that "Zamboni" (It’s actually an ice resurfacer manufactured by Olympia
