Wow, I guess it's true that New Yorkers are insular, insufferable self-centered assholes who love making crazy generalizations about "Texas, Nebraska, Illinois, Oklahoma or any redneck middle of the country place." Oh wait, that's just you.

Nothing says ignorant like creating offensive stereotypes and the misapplying them. You know, like calling whole states redneck?

Oh yeah or I guess like someone calling you a faggot! Guess no one learned anything from this exchange.

I'll apologize for my ignorant redneck neighbors, but don't lump all of us in with that lot. Austin's always been considered a blue oasis in a sea of red.

I was just about to write up a similar incident I had on the Metro North platform last week. As we were all walking along the train looking for seats I saw a woman avert her 9 or 10 year old daughter's eyes from a male couple who were saying goodbye on the platform. It was a tiny little peck on the lips and some hand holding but she felt the need to cover her daughter's face, and alert her husband with an eye rolling "yuck" face. I just wrote it off to Bridge and Tunnel behavior. New York is safe and welcoming and wonderful but it can be scary when an intolerant outsider comes in.
