Where the Gentleman are…

If you’re like me - in your 30’s and hating the scene - most nights, all you want from a night out is a fun time spent with friends and having the ability to talk without screaming over music or getting hit on by guys.

Don’t get me wrong, I love men (big difference between guys and men) - I don’t seriously date, but I do have a love for them.

Here’s the thing. My standards for men’s behavior are probably beyond what most people find just acceptable and I don’t care to settle, but I really do appreciate the rare gentleman.

I guess this is the point where I should mention that 2 years ago, I lost my partner, my fiance, my everything… in a tragic accident. This once confirmed bachelorette experienced “absolute bliss” when she least expected it and now, I’m enjoying my love for the city.

Anyway… even though I don’t care to date, it doesn’t mean that I don’t like the attention of a man.

Now that the summer is officially over, we’ve been out and about enjoying the mid season weather and we’ve found that certain men can really make a regular night out into a night to remember. All while doing their thing behind the bar.

Here are a few places where you can be treated like a lady without wondering if the guy is playing you:

1. Bryant Park.
I’ve avoided this place since 1999 and I quickly remembered why. We stopped there before heading to Prana Mandir for an event. Even though it was too crowded and crawling with people on the prowl, we managed to enjoy a few rounds of drinks and some dinner - which led to us missing our event. The bartenders were so hospitable and sweet and funny and entertaining, that we forgot about our plans! You would too if you were singing and dancing with a few charmers. And they NEVER got out of line.

2. Centrico. On Saturday, we were treated so well that when we made an attempt to leave, they did their best to have us stay a little longer - we couldn’t resist!! How CAN you when they make you feel like you’re #1.

3. Tabla. Tonight, we stopped there after a long day at work and it was worth it. Never mind how good their Tamarind Margarita is, but we got the royal treatment - their full attention, fantastic service, all doors opened for us… I should have asked for a foot rub. Hm, maybe that would’ve been pushing it.

Ahhh, there is nothing like being treated so well.
One thing to keep in mind - attitudes are infectious. So, I’m sure that all this amazing treatment is probably because we’re quite friendly and silly, but whatever it is, I suggest the ladies give these places a try.

Here’s a few more to add to that list:
Agave
Jane
Diablo Royale
Citrus
Suba
