How to get a Seat on the E Train

http://nyc.metblogs.com/archives/images/2007/09/etrain-thumb.jpegNow for some real useful information that you’ve been waiting for. How to get a seat on the subway. It’s not as difficult of a task as many of you may think. Obviously if you are old or pregnant then you’re set.

It’s a numbers game. On the E, C, and A trains the gray seats are made for at least 7 people. But because people are notorious leg spreaders and sometimes just plain fat…they don’t want to allow that 7th person to squeeze in. So the next time you board, make sure you count the number of people. The theory popped into my head not too long ago and it always works.

If you see the gray seats and count only 5 or 6 people on it, you should then look for the leg spreaders and people who are situated with more distance from one another than necessary.

Usually what will happen is 2 people will have to move in opposite directions to create that spot. But beware, sometimes it is naturally impossible to fit more than 6. . . on account of people’s sizes…but I do hope this helps you find a seat.
