NYC Tap Water is f&*@ing delicious

And not only is the water tasty; but it’s very good for you. Now I won’t get carried away and say that the water in Long Island or even adjacent NJ is any good. In fact, NJ water makes is probably one of my least favorite waters around.

But H20 being such an essential part of everyone’s lives, it makes sense to realize that the spring water you purchase is just as equally healthy or in case of Aquafina, it is tap water glorified by marketing campaigns.

In fact, NYC drinking water is so good that the Envrionmental Protection Agency (EPA) just granted a waiver for the next decade for us to continue drinking unfiltered water. Now that only means technically the water is unfiltered; obviously the water goes through tons of filters before running through our taps. But the point is, the water is delicious. So drink up!

Actually, NYC drinking water is not run through filters… It only receives disinfection via chlorine and had flouride added for dental health…

A filtration plant is being built in the Bronx which will treat only about 1/4 of the supply. The main supply is not being filtered. The waiver is the City’s card to not have to build a pricey plant.

This is why I don’t see why it is such a big deal that Aquafina and so many other brands are tap water. Tap water, in a lot of cities is perfectly safe to drink…probably safer in many cases because it is more regulated. The water that Aquafina starts with is regulated and clean, and then they filter it through a 7-step process. So if you aren’t at home and don’t have access to your own tap water, that seems like a pretty good, convenient alternative to me!
