I have no clue what the dating scene is like, I need to get out more and talk to more random people. The regular NYC attitude of talking to anyone (or anything with the homeless) still scares me, I'm probably considered shy.

The bar scene in NYC is the worst! You get the generic bar girls, with too much makeup and a bad attitude, and the generic bar guys, with overly gelled hair and a striped, untucked button-down shirt. No variety at all! The guys are pricks, and the girls are generally bitches.

Be aware of the guys in a crowded bar who will grab your boobs as they pass. Girls I know say that is a growing issue.

Yes, sometimes, looking outside what has to be first found inside can be difficult and frustating.

Josh posted about this back on the 11th, referencing this Times article. The long and short of it... yes. We have scientific proof that NYers are more picky daters than other places. With an infinite number of choices it seems that we develop an even higher number of criteria to determine who is acceptable.
