Help find a hit-and-run driver

http://nyc.metblogs.com/archives/images/2007/04/monicahenk-thumb.jpgA couple of days ago, my boyfriend learned that his friend Monica Henk had been struck by a hit-and-run driver while she was riding her motorcycle in Brooklyn. A black SUV plowed into her and drove off, leaving her for dead. She was taken to the hospital and was in critical condition; after several days on life support, with her essentially brain dead, her family made the decision to take her off life support.

Her husband and family want to find the person who hit her. So far, the police have not been able to locate the driver, but have determined that the vehicle was most likely a 1995-1997 Chevy S-10 blazer, which is missing its front bumper and has a smashed headlight from the collision. The hit-and-run incident occurred around 7 am on Saturday, April 7th, at Kent and Flushing Avenues in Brooklyn.

I didn’t know Monica, but I have many friends who do, and they are shocked and devastated by what has happened. If you or anyone you know has any information about the accident, please call New York State Crimestoppers at (800) 577-TIPS or her husband, Dan Henk at (917) 554-1341 (only for info on the accident). There is a reward for information leading to the arrest of the person who hit her.

Update: Monica passed away on April 12. Rest in peace.

The reward has grown to $18,000; $8,000 raised by her friends and family and an additional $10,000 provided by Crimestoppers. Please feel free to repost this poster.
