Bello the Clown Wants His Bike Back
How low can one go? Stealing candy from a baby? Stealing money from the church collection box? Now stealing a specially-made tiny bike from a circus clown! Bello the clown, in town for the annual New York City run of the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey’s Circus is missing his bike. It is a teeny bike, specially made in Mexico and no one else can ride it but him — it took special training for him to learn.
Now this is a city where few people make it their occupation to make people laugh. On many an afternoon I sit in a park or outdoor cafe and laugh at people. But being amused by people doing their everyday (to them) thing, doesn’t count. They don’t know they are making me laugh and they wouldn’t see the humor. And most people you meet in the course of a day, from the building super to the clerk at Duane Reade, make me want to cry. But Bello the clown makes it his career to make people happy in good clean fun. So if you know where Bello’s little bicycle is, please return it to the circus!
