Vernal equinox

balancing_eggs.jpgContinuing on my “issues” with the weather, last night, at 8:07pm, the vernal equinox occurred. That means that it’s now officially Spring. The problem is that no one told the weather about that fact. As of a minute ago, the Central Park temperature was 26, and it felt like 20! It’s going to go up to a high of 42 today. Good thing I’m still wearing my scarf. Sigh.

The pigeons on my fire escape this morning certainly got the fact that it was Spring. They were having what could best be described as “wild sex” at about 6:30am, and they were not going to be disturbed by any amount of knocking on the window. I tried going back to sleep, but they were just too noisy, and as it approached 7:15am with them still going strong, I almost became a little jealous of their staying power. I’m now on my second cup of coffee, and they’re in the middle of round number two. Good for them.

For the record, you can balance an egg on it’s end on any day of the year, but it’s just a whole lot easier on the equinox (I don’t have the patience any other day of the year). It took me all of 10 seconds to balance both eggs last night, but my coffee machine knocked one of the eggs over this morning.

I can’t even begin…the wind chill this morning, smack into Spring, was 17. My parents, also enjoying Spring down in the south? Doing so to the tune of 80 degree weather.

does the egg thing work even if you’re in a 100 year old tenement that is slightly slanted? and while we’re at it, should i hang my pictures parallel to the floor/ceiling or perfectly level?
