This is getting regoddamndiculous
For a long time now I’ve felt that either Hollywood is out of original ideas or they are just too scared to use them (did Poseidon really need to be remade?). They seem to favor movies that have an already established audience, and for a very long time they’ve been successful at taking Broadway hits and moving them to the big screen.
Broadway, taking a queue from Hollywood, is starting to do the same. The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, and The Producers were all very successful. So much so, that musical producers everywhere started looking at every movie ever made to see if they could turn it into a musical. And so we find ourselves with less than a month until Legally Blonde, the musical, opens at The Palace theater.
What? Are you kidding me? The only thing more ridiculous would a musical about Edward Scissorhands (now through March 31st at the Brooklyn Academy of Music).
What’s next, Poseidon the musical?

Well, there was “Titanic: The Musical” a few years back.
Ahem. There is already a Poseidon musical. Poseidon! an Upside Down Musical played the Fringe Festival and was a cult smash a few years ago.
I was once told that ‘Borrowing someone else’s ideas is the best way to make money.’
It’s so true.
I can’t wait for “Law and Order - The Musical”…
