Just Say NO To Nit-Picking Nanny State Naysayers

As many of you know from my occasional posts here , I am a lifelong New Yorker transplanted to Miami. Tonight I attended a blogger dinner with many ex and current New Yorkers talking about how NYC has totally lost its’ edge - being malled over by Starbucks, Gap and Fuddruckers - while much of Miami - the boomingest town in the country is now very edgy - much like the East Village in the mid -1980s. After dinner ( light but with possible trans-fats,yet delicious ) we went across the street to a bar where many smoked inside and out , people danced ( without a cabaret license ! ) some looked under 21 ! Afterwards I got in my car, chatting on my cell ,when a call from Australia came in , passing a policeman directing traffic at a repair area. Just a typical weeknight here.

Then I arrived home to read Dana’s post below !

Hello NY ! Guess what ? Freedom is NOT Free! Fight back against these Nagging Nursemaids you elected - by voting them out ! Miami is made up of people who escaped repressive regimes - like Castro’s Cuba, Pinochet’s Chile, Chavez’s Venezuela and Giuliani/Bloomberg’s New York!

actually a lot of the Gaps have closed. banks are opening everywhere though. and i wish they’d open some Fuddruckers in the city. nyc hasn’t lost it’s edge, it’s just moved into new neighborhoods.
