Microsoft Vista Acrobatics

2007_01_vistalaunch2.jpgMicrosoft always makes waves when they release a new product. The song “Start Me Up” by the
Rolling Stones has become synonymous with Windows 95 thanks to an aggressive ad campaign. So, you know the technology mega-corporation would do something huge to top past efforts with today’s highly anticipated release of Vista, the latest installment of their popular “Windows” operating system… Enter Cirque Du Soleil.

I wouldn’t really say Vista has been “highly anticipated.” Everyone knows it’s coming and will be the default on OEMs and there’s nothing you can do about it, so why not begrudgingly accept it. But a search for “vista lukewarm” reveals a lot of articles and blogs indicating a tepid response to this product release.

Most of the digitally-inclined have abandoned Windows for Mac OS X and Linux (such as Ubuntu). Losing the hobbyists and geeks will eventually catch up with Microsoft, but for now they can expect to continue raking in the profits from their illegally-maintained monopoly.
