Soho Sandwich

Soho is a great lunch place, which is not actually in Soho. It’s in my neighborhood of Astoria. And it is home to possibly my favorite sandwich.
Soho’s menu has something for everyone. Burgers, fresh protein shakes, steak fries, salads. It’s good stuff. Not cheap, but not too pricey either. It’s got a comfy vibe making it the perfect place to sit and enjoy a tasty sandwich.
When I first moved to NY a few years ago, my dad and I went to Soho for lunch, after an exhausting day of moving. When I looked at sandwich #41, I knew we’d chosen a good place. Fresh mozzarella, tomato, and basil served on focaccia bread with sides of bean salad and tabouli. Delicious.
The last time I went to Soho, I stared in horror at the menu where I could find no mention of my favorite sandwich. When the server came over to take our order, I asked about it. “Oh, #41, you mean, ” she said. “Yeah, it’s not on the menu any more, but we still make them. And we will, as long as I work here. It’s my favorite.”
The sandwich was as delicious as the first time I ate it on my first day as a New York resident.

That sounds good! I want one. The odd thing is that I live near the actual SoHo neighborhood, and it is seriously lacking in a really good sandwich shop.
I remember that day! How come I didn’t get a sandwich!
