Christmas carnage
You know the holiday season is really over, aside from the fact that it’s January 7, when all the decorations start coming down.
In midtown east last night I witnessed what can only be called Christmas tree devastation. Check out more carnage after the jump.
There were broken branches, scattered needles, and puddles of water everywhere, sort of like a World War I battlefield, only pinier. There was also a woodchipper to obliterate all evidence of the evergreen corpses.
Also, as I’m sure everyone has noticed, you can’t walk down the sidewalk without seeing thrown-out Christmas trees piled up, waiting to be taken away to the Christmas tree graveyard. But who knew they could be hazardous to your health: last night it was so windy, several trees were sent rolling down the street like tumbleweed. This unfortunate individual got smushed by a bus:

Sorry the picture is so crappy. I need a better flash.
Another way you can tell the holidays are over? Valentine’s Day displays.
I hear the mountains of Borneo are nice that time of year.

Coincidentally, I also noticed the Valentine’s Day displays here in Mtl and posted about it on our site (sans photo). But yeah, BLECH!
