Cleanup on 42nd Street

http://nyc.metblogs.com/archives/images/2007/01/capt.nysw11101010645.aptopix_new_year_times_square_nysw111-thumb.jpgAfter an insane night of partying, millions of people from around the world have left what they always leave in NYC on the 1st of the month; trash. Imagine what bringing in the new year for the people at the NYC Department of Sanitation is like. . . just picking up everyone’s hidden beer bottles, party hats, stupid plastic glasses that say 2007 on them and who knows what else.

So the next time a visitor asks you why are New Yorkers so rude? You can tell them with confidence why…It’s because people like you left thousands of tons of garbage in the middle of our city on the first of the year.

Wait, we need an excuse for being rude?

I’m sure the Sanitation department doesn’t mind the cleanup since they probably get lots of overtime.

If the trash was just from the tourists, how come the city is so dirty when it’s not tourist season?

Josh, I knew some wiseguy like you would pounce upon my logical gap. When your own kids and family members leave your house in disarray, sure they get yelled at but sooner or later they’ll pick up after themselves. And even if they don’t, you don’t mess with the family that much. But let’s say one of your friends comes over or acquaintances from work and leaves the place in disarray, then you get really steamed, don’t you? You know you do, you wanna take a bat to their face and show them whose boss. Well, that’s exactly the shit I’m talking about, my friend.

Love & Peace in the New Year.
