Just me and 37,000 of my nearest and dearest.

So I’ll be one of the 37,000+ crazies hoofin’ it around the five boroughs this weekend… This will be my second time running the NYC marathon, and I’m definitely looking forward to it. I could write an essay about how different the second experience is from the first (and maybe I will), but one thing I’m incredibly psyched about this time around is the forecasted weather: 50 degrees and partly cloudy! You can’t get much better than that, folks. The last time I ran NYC it was in the high 70s and not a cloud in the sky–that’s WAY too hot for marathon running.

But if I weren’t running this year, you can bet your ass I’d be out there spectating. The entire time I’ve been in NYC, the marathon has been one of my favorite things to get out and be part of. If you haven’t done it, I won’t try to put it into words for you. Just get out there. If you’re new to NYC, I guarantee it will be a defining experience for you.

I considered compiling a list of the best resources out there for spectators, but when Gothamist has already done such an incredible job, why bother? So get out of here, and head over there. But then come back and I’ll tell you all about how I’m going to leave Lance Armstrong in the dust on Sunday, and how Bobby Flay is totally going to be my bitch.
