But I’ll know my song well before I start singin’.

Having just had an impassioned discussion about the career and voice of Bob Dylan, I was pleased to hear about this exhibition at the Morgan Library. Lots of Dylan artifacts and paraphernalia on display, along with viewing and listening stations.
So if you’re a member of the “Dylan was a brilliant songwriter and incredibly talented musician, but oh that voice, that horrible voice” camp, you can go and pore over hundreds of handwritten lyrics, typed manuscripts, handbills, concert announcements, etc. and avoid the recordings entirely.
Or if, like me, you’re a member of the “Not only did he write great songs, but man that voice, that awesomely weird and raspy voice” camp, well then, you can go and revel in the recordings that all those others weirdos are avoiding.

Does it get any better than “Subterranean Homesick Blues” or “Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright?” He has the most poetic, melodic, incredible songs ever! I am reading his book “Chronicles” right now, and plan on rocking the museum on Saturday. I hope lots of people get out there.
