first day of work
i started my new job today. i was so excited about this job, at EXPRESS (clothing store) because it seemed like a fun environment in which people are not generally mad for once. I used to be a hostess at the Sprint cell phone store, and about 4 out of every 5 customers that walked in that door really gave me an earful. but today, wasn’t exactly a cakewalk.
so yeah, i was scheduled 5pm-12am. i had class this morning, and after a night of drinking last night, class was already enough to make me tired. i had lunch at 230pm, and at 745pm i had dinner- an apple. they told me we’re usually out by 11pm so i got real excited when it hit around 1030. we didn’t get out until 130. i was wearing my roommates shoes, which KILLED my feet. and my back. i’m in such terrible shape right now. i walked outside to head home, and it was raining… the ONE time i forget my umbrella. seriously i havent taken the umbrella out of my purse since i’ve moved here, but i switched bags for work and forgot my umbrella. luckily a girl i work with was headed the same direction so i shared her umbrella. i just really don’t like that fact that i work at a clothing store, and i didnt make it home until 2am. and the job sucked. i’m not quite sure how long i’m gonna stay there… i want to be a bartender, so i really need to start looking for a bartending job somewhere in the city…

That sucks, Kim! I have worked in retail too (Brookstone), and it seems that stores generally treat their employees like trash… I lasted 4 years there, but I was in high school and didn’t know any better. Sounds like you need to hang on to this until you can find a better job. HANG IN THERE!

i work at 51st & madison. and yes, i get a 30% discount but they’re crazy about letting anyone else use it, sorry lol. the good thing is i get that discount at places like victorias secret too =)
