The Starbuxing of NYC
As if it hadn’t already literally taken over entire city blocks - Starbucks is releasing a program that it started at the Sundance Film Festival called Salon. It features artists you may or may not know performing music, spoken word and even a short films program on 9/11.
Is anyone else grossed out by this concept? Haven’t we suffered enough? I say this tongue completely in cheek as I’m enjoying a pumpkin spiced latte. But seriously how the eff are we supposed to resist when they’re all over? I was thinking this morning that anyone with a coffee habit will probably end up dishing out a few hundred bucks to Starbucks even if they don’t go there regularly.

Did you hear that Starbucks sent out free coffee coupons and then decided not to use them? So Caribou Coffee decided to honor those coupons and try to take some of Starbucks customers. We’ll see who stays loyal.
That’s a brilliant move on Caribou coffee’s part. I understand that the free iced mocha I had the other day at Starf***s was not really meant for me. The coupon was designed for employee’s family members and such . . .
The only loyalty I hold is to my own coffee machine and organic fair-trade coffee.
How much is a standard white coffee in NYC? How much would you expect to pay for say a regular latte?
Regular Latte Tall: $3, Medium $4, Large, $5…something like that.
Dude, “Starbucks” has pretty much become an adjective and musical genre on its own. One synonymous with suckage, that is. Though they are the last commercial entity we need to attach its name to music, I too will admit that my bloodstream is probably about 1% ‘bucks coffee anyway, cause they are unavoidable. WHAT WE REALLY NEED in this city is a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf….at least there you can choose soy milk for your blended icey thingy.
Okay a tall here is easily close to $4 maybe higher. However, if you go elsewhere like an old Italian run caff then you’re talking £1.20 for a large capp or latte. Illy is the mutts nuts as far as the bean goes. Have a nice weekend all from London.
hey dhaval. how would like an organic and biodynamic cup of coffee? you know what i mean? do you have this in nyc?
cheers. :)
Maira, I have no idea what you mean, but it sounds delicious. Now I’m thirsty!!!
Double macchiato first thing in the morning, you can’t beat it.
