Images of New York

Perusing the web the other day, I found this cool site, bigfoto.com, which is a “royalty free photo agency offering free use of all pictures”. Most of the pictures are very big, and for someone with a monitor with 1920×1200 pixels looking for cool background images, this is a very sweet thing. They even have a whole category of photos just of New York, not a huge gallery but it’s got some gems for sure. Check out my favorite above, fantastic aerial shot of the East River featuring (from bottom to top) the Brooklyn, Manhattan and Williamsburg Bridges. It’s an older shot, but still very cool. Click to big-ify.

Have you got a favorite site to find high-res, free use photos of NYC? Do tell…

Anything with the Manhattan Bridge in view is tight. I hadn’t driven over that bridge until recently, when I realized just how gosh-durn pretty it is. Might even be my favorite in the city.

flikrlilli.org.uk is a site that allows you to search for photos with Creative Commons licenses. You can download images of NYC (or just about anything) that photographers have agreed to let people use. It’s an interesting place to search around!

Sorry, I spelled it wrong. Here’s the correct version:
