metropoliTHOUGHTS: On the 6 During Rush Hour

Am I the only one who gets slightly offended when there are tons of people standing and no one is sitting in the empty seat next to me?

I’ve never been able to understand the bizarre phenomen of the untaken seat, either. I wouldn’t take it personally. Everyone around you just might have a) a macho complex, b) a delusion that standing during their commute counts as exercise so they can skip their workout, or c) hemmorhoids.

Sometimes I’m just not in the mood to sit and so i don’t.
Now it is weird when the train is packed and there’s that seat where no one wants to seat. No reason.

Art, perhaps they don’t want to sit with you because they know you have repeated snubbed your fellow MB_NYC’ers and never come to a meetup? Food for thought…

I hope I’ve never done this to you, Art. Most of my subway journeys are only a few stops, and sometimes it just seems easier to stand.
