Cake - The Best Thing That Happened To Me Yesterday
Before the shit incident, and before the Stout incident, I was actually enjoying a lovely start to my evening.
A few of us ladies met up after work for late afternoon tea and cake at Lady M. If you’ve never been, it’s one of those elegant Madison Avenue shops that’s a touch on the snobby side, but good for an occasional change of pace.
It’s a tiny place with about 6 or 7 two person tables and ALL of the decor is white. Walls, floors, tables, chairs, chandeliers, counter, bathroom, plates, cups… white. I suppose that’s their way of making their desserts - which are presented to you like jewels in a glass case - stand out.
We were celebrating, so we all ordered a pot of Creamy Morning Tea each - which has GOT to be the best tea I have EVER had. It’s like a vanilla caramel flavor that goes perfectly with their desserts. We also ordered 5 slices of cake - 2 of their signature cake, the Mille Crepes, 1 strawberry shortcake, 1 vanilla/chocolate cake and 1 Mirior Caramel cake. It was like heaven. Actually, what I love about Lady M is that they don’t give you a huge portion, none of the desserts are heavy or overly sweet, but they’re all quite unique.
I would have to say that my only complaint is that there isn’t a dessert menu, and there are no descriptions to be found anywhere, so check online before you go. Although, the site really doesn’t cover all of their desserts, but you can always ask the women who work there. Keep in mind though, this is Madison Avenue - so don’t expect warm and fuzzy.
Oh, one other thing. This isn’t cheap - the bill came out to $65… including tip for 4 of us, but well worth it.
