I MISSED IT! All 27 inches of it.
I know that there aren’t a lot of people that are big fans of the snow. I wasn’t a fan until I moved into the city. No shoveling, no cars to dig out, no LIRR delays to deal with. Well, I was away for the weekend, and all I had to come back to late last night were crazy mounds of snow - and the yellow and brown stuff this morning. Day 1 is always the best.
Anyway, I safely (and luckily) made it back after my flight was delayed for 4 hours. I really can’t complain, I picked up lots of reading material, but I happened to go down during this huge cheerleading competition. I actually thought I was doing a good thing by missing the crowds for the Daytona 500 which is next weekend - not sure which crowd would be worse.
I had about 30 cheerleaders on my flight out of NY (singing and cheering throughout the flight) and then on my way home, I was stuck in the airport with about 200 cheerleaders trying to make their way home. Still singing and cheering. Don’t they ever stop!
As always, it’s great to be home. Even though I had to wait 45 minutes outside in the cab line at JFK for a cab that couldn’t go over 40 without shaking. This is one of those times where I think the “check engine light” actually means to check the damn engine.
Doris - thanks for the pictures of the UES. I knew EXACTLY what I was in for when I got home.
