Homeward Bound (Final Chapter)
Let’s have the photos do all the talking in this one. For those who have not been following - my grandparents had their flight back to India today, the day of Blizzard 2006.
[Bags all packed & loaded after an hour of shoveling]
[JFK Parking Lot, how'd the snow get in there?!]
I drove into Terminal 1 which was supposed to be the proper terminal for the flight. We arrived, waited on line for 35 minutes at which point they said we had to go to Terminal 3, instead. So, we took a cab to Terminal 3. Since the grandparents are older, I pretty much had to carry 6 bags, 3 of them over-sized, the rest of them tinier. Then, the cab dropped us off and I unloaded all the bags at Terminal 3. They informed us there that we had to go to the other side of Terminal 3. I reloaded the bags and unloaded them finally at Terminal 3. After a bit more bureaucratic hassle in which 2 people rarely had the same response we figured out that they had to stand in the Delta Domestic Terminal even though their flight was international.
So, we stood, for another 40 or so minutes to learn that all their bags except for one was heavier than the limit. So, we unzipped, rearranged, and in another 30 minutes finally got them checked in. So, the flight should leave in a bit now . . . and hopefully I won’t have any additional updates except for their phonecall when they’ve reached India.
Now, I’m just sipping on some chai and hoping to relax and not do anymore shoveling until I have to take my car out tomorrow.
