Vegan Sloshing Essentials

So many of you are vegans and or vegetarians who drink. Those of you frequenting the city’s vegan eateries may be in for a sour surprise. Advertised vegetarian and vegan places like Kate’s Joint (strictly veggie/vegan place), Quantum Leap and Counter serve non-vegetarian alcohol. The key thing that makes wine non-vegetarian is the clarifying process which often times will use blood. Also, beers like Guinness use isinglass, which is animal derived. Anyway, there’s a Web site of checked lists of what beer you can drink and what you can’t if you want to stay true to your vegan heritage.

In addition, here are a couple of sites I found that probably would work out for wineos.

Organic Wine Company has six vegan wines. Use the drop-down box on the right to choose “vegan” to find them.

Frey Vineyards, Organic and Biodynamic Wine has vegan wines.

Wright’s Wines produces vegan wines certified through the New Zealand Vegetarian Society.

That’s it for now, feel free to add more resources for those who may want to indulge.
