With every day that goes by, with New Yorkers having to endure the long walks, the long lines, the excessive crowds the cab-price gauging, the artic weather, the lost business, the lost income, the initial sympathy or empathy we tend to feel for underdogs, it’s going to dwindle.
It is selfish of the MTA Workers Union leaders to leave so many people stranded. They are targetting the wrong groups: mainly the poor, the working classes and small businesses who depend on them to put food on the table and a roof over their head, and who depended on them to make the necessary money this week right on time for the holiday usual expenditures. 33,000 people are deciding for millions of us, how much we’ll get to make this week, in business and wages. They are being unreasonable. This is no longer the 20th century. Look at what’s happened to GM and the airline industry. The unions won years ago and look at both, today those employers are bankrupt. Now it doesn’t matter that the unions had a victory or two decades ago; there are no jobs and no money.
They should get with the times. Many of us don’t enjoy a fraction of the benefits these people have. Shame on them. Get back to work for goodness sake. Help the city get back to work. It is the holidays!
