(Dis)connected

The smartest purchase I made before quitting my job has to be the wireless card for my computer. It doesn’t matter if I’m checking my email or on iChat or scanning Missed Connections, if I’m out of my apartment and in a cafe with a formidable-looking book on the table next to me, I *feel* productive. This site lists spots in New York that have free wifi. It seems a little incomplete to me, but it’s still a handy list.

Another good way to look and feel productive is to have about eight different windows open: my resume, a job-search website, the Times, Television Without Pity, a blog or two, and a few things I can’t afford at the moment but really want.

Damn. Look at all that stuff I’m doing. I hardly have *time* for work.
