Damn Good Noise

This evening I’ll be heading out to this month’s Damn Goon Noise event - a monthly music and art party.

Each month, DGN features one artist who’s pieces are set up as an exhibit throughout the bar and in the background, you’ll hear music from about 7 emerging bands. They actually play each of the bands albums from start to finish. Not a bad way to get your music out there and heard.

I went to their event last month and I think it may have been their first this year - I only say that because it didn’t seem as organized or pulled together as I thought it would have been.

I think it’s a great concept, but I would have liked to have known what bands album was playing (while it was playing). They post the schedule on the site, but I didn’t remember the order - and I don’t think anyone else really did. They did make an announcement about each band once the album finished, but I think it would have been better to know at the beginning AND at the end.

In my opinion, there should have been a place set up to sell CD’s, flyers around with the evenings schedule of events, more announcements from the DJ, information about the artist and what pieces were for sale… especially since it’s all about the bands and the artist. Like I said - just my opinion. We’ll see how this evening goes.

Melissa I want to thank you for posting info about Damn Good Noise and for your comments… it is always improving - and yes - it is all about the various artists.

DGN is expanding to a bi-weekly program in 5 different venues to get people who refuse to leave their own neighborhoods and also to present different art and design along with the music program.

I hope you keep coming and telling people about it!

    Michael
