This past Friday my office cubemate gave me four tickets to see The White Stripes at Keypsan Park, Coney Island on Saturday. Which was nice of him.

Important (but boring) stuff about Free Credit Reports in New York

credit.jpgDid you know that as of September 1st, 2005 all New Yorkers are now entitled to receive their personal credit report from the big three credit agencies (TransUnion, Experian and Equifax) for free once per year? This is excellent news as your credit report absolutely key in NYC for renting a decent apartment and downright essential if you are looking to buy something and/or receive other financial services (even some employers and insurance provider are now examining your credit reports). For too long we needed to fork over cash to see our own credit history; the type of information that creditors and banks are examining all the time was only available to us for a fee–how unfair! Well finally we have the right to see it for free and I strongly urge anyone who cares about their financial future to take a few moments and obtain, print out and store their credit reports from all 3 agencies. I just did all 3 of mine and it took under 10 minutes.

How can you do this? Visit the Annual Credit Report Website, select your state, ask for all three reports and follow the instructions for how to navigate back to the main site to get all of them. They will ask you some personal information about your current and previous addresses, your employer and some of your existing lines of credit, so make sure to have that info handy. The one thing missing from this report is your actual credit score, but all the agencies will offer you the ability to buy that as well for a fee of about $6. Credit scores generally range from 350 to 850. To determine what yours means, you have to look at broad ranges. If your score is between:

- 350 and 500 – Most lenders and property owners will see you as the highest possible risk.
- 500 and 550 – Makes you high risk.
- 550 and 600 – Makes you medium to high risk.
- 600 and 650 – Makes you medium risk.
- 650 and 700 – Makes you medium to low risk.
- 700 and above – Makes you low risk.

I would recommend reviewing your free reports and if you see a lot of red flags, spending the money to see your actual score. And through these sites you can also dispute inaccurate information to make sure your credit is all shiny and wonderful if/when you need it to be in the future. I can

Chain at IFC Center

Too often I make plans to catch various films/exhibits/concerts/anything else interesting and fail to make it. In a city with so many great options it seems the real problem can be committing to an event because you know there are so many more great opportunities just around the corner. Tonight, I actually made it out to something I

Soooo much food

Greetings,

Was it us? Today the Yankees pulled through and hit two home runs. I learnt to love ‘Bern baby bern’ and that there is a one and only Shef!

Last night we leaned to worship at the altar of goodness that is San Gennaro. God, you guys eat! The portions we had at Katz http://www.katzdeli.com/ today were inhumanly huge. Its just our first day and we’re nearly over the jet lag. Tomorrow we hit Moma and then some serious retail therapy kicks in.

More will follow.

Fall In Adirondacks

Few NYCers would know that fall starts out from a little dot area on East coast called Adirondacks and slowly expands out in entire New York state. And this weekend is that start along with hot air balloon fest! Adirockdacks is one of the best place to experience fall colors on East cost especially if you can take little air tour because this little unique area is tighly packed with 46 high peaks (4000+ ft moutains), countless small mountains and lakes. Obviuosly all hotels (even the shitty Econolodge) have hiked up their rates to $100+ a nights. It’s time to say thank you to campgrounds :).
