A good way to get space

So I discovered a good way to get plenty of space to yourself on the subway, even around 5:00pm.

I took an empty wine box home from work today to store some bottles I have sitting around on the floor. This isn’t wasn’t a typical wine box because it has resealable flaps and only holds six bottles. When I got a harsh stare from a police officer on 50th I realized this may not be the best time to carry a box on the subway lest somebody mistake it for a suspicious package.

It was too late at that point because I decided it would be much, much worse to leave it unattended next to a garbage can – above ground or below. So I continued underground. No police anywhere to be found. Relief. As I waited I noticed people slowly moving away from me and others watching me from the corner of their eyes.

During the short ride uptown to my transfer many eyes were on me and more people than normal moved to other cars. Stepping off the train at 72nd I see a police officer and think,

    What kind of work has you bring home a special wine box? I get to bring home bottles of wine. :)

    I work in a wine cellar but I believe it would be frowned upond to bring the wine home. So I must settle for a sturdy box to store my own wine.

    Those cops aint stupid. They were just hoping to get away from you before you popped the cork. If you were a cop would you mess with a bomber, or just try to quietly walk away?
