Discovering Brooklyn - The Brooklyn Botanic Garden

I was actually born in Brooklyn and have spent a lot of time there visiting family and friends over the years - I just haven’t taken much time to enjoy it’s “essentials”.

My boyfriend took me to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden on May 1 for the Cherry Blossom Festival (Sakura Matsuri). Sadly, I had never been there before, but I fell in love. I’m sure the perfect weather had something to do with it, but either way, it was a great little escape and an amazing place to spend a leisurely afternoon.

The festival is over now, but according to the Blossom Status Map, the Cherry Blossoms are in peak bloom.

If Cherry Blossoms aren’t your thing, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden hosts plenty of events throughout the summer - or you could always just head there, pick a spot, have a picnic and enjoy the scenery.

Enjoy!
