Well, Tessa, I will definitely e-mail you, and I appreciate all your help. I have applied for positions at design firms Downtown and have interviewed for a couple, but I just can't compete with people who have years of experience behind them. And, I studied psychology in school -- most of my skills come from stuff I've picked up on my own or while doing extra-curriculars. But, it's not professional experience, and I don't have much of a portfolio, so it's tough.

Thing is, I am a damn hardworker. I'm extremely responsible and adapt very easily to situations, so I'm confident that I could be potentially great at any job. But, simply saying that isn't enough to convince prospective employers.

That bootcamp thing you mentioned sounds really interesting, actually. I do have some money saved, just in case, so if there was the prospect of making good pay after a 6-week period of earning little, I'd still be interested.

So, yeah. Look out for the e-mail.

And, Dana, while I could easily do all the things you listed... yeah, they're not on the ol' resume.

But, thanks.

I wish I could help, but I (as you know) work for "the man". If you resume includes any of the following skills let me know:

- Establishing and perpetuating a monopoly

- Fudging corporate earning numbers

- Talking a lot but not actually saying anything of substance

- Not fully understanding the meaning of "fiscal responsibility"

- Turning "bugs" into "features"

If not, I am afraid I can't help. Sorry.

Art-

I don't have anything that I know of right now, but email me this week, and I'll ask around at my main work. We work at lot with ad agencies and that has a creative bent to it. I'll ask around the majors for you to see if there is anything.

the only immediate tips I have are that several design firms in tribeca are looking for people and posting on craigslist and in the neighborhood. Also there are a few PR/Ad agencies who have 6 week trainee/bootcamps this summer-get a low wage for 6 weeks and work your ass off for the chance to get an extremely well paying job thereafter.
