My response to this post is, "what planet are you from?"

No theater has ever allowed outside drinks or beverages. Period. It's how they make most of their money. Yes, it's outrageous, but that's why most people sneak stuff in as has already been pointed out.

I don't think you're going to get anywhere with those complaints, but more power to you if it makes you feel any better.

At least none of the theaters here are doing what the Wallace chain did in Hawaii: forbidding people from bringing in backpacks or large bags. Period. Not searching bags or even providing lockers for people to stow their stuff during the show. Hawaii is such a car-culture state that it didn't even occur to the asshats at Wallace that there are people who don't have a car trunk to put their stuff. Just try that shit in NYC...

Yeah I was gonna say--this is really something I don't understand and I have been sneaking food and drinks into theaters since I was knee-high to a grasshopper. Perhaps it's easier for girls since we always have big bags crammed full of stuff. Maybe you need to invest in a man-purse. Evidently they are here to stay. Just don't let Art catch you on the subway with one.

This might sound anti-climactic but everyone else just brings something to drink AND eat in a messenger/book bag. Until they start inspecting bags... this will be the only immediate solution I can suggest while you pursue the matter through official channels.
