Images from JFK’s Terminal 5 exhibit

I went to the Terminal 5 exhibit at JFK last friday. Not only is the building amazing with swanky, Playboy mansion-style VIP lounges, a retro diner, and bars around every corner (this is how travelling should be!) but the artwork is out of this world. Tom Sachs made an insane halfpipe running down one of the terminal’s long, circular corridors; Tobias Wong curated an amazing gift shop (I want EVERYTHING in it); and a husband wife team (sorry I can’t remember their names) built these insane model sets that when filmed by security cameras rigged around them create a short film on a television nearby. Don’t miss it.

*ED NOTE* Well, you might miss it. According to the Terminal 5 site, the show has been closed down by the Port Authority because of disrespectful behavior during the show’s opening last friday. Rumor has it that people were smoking and tagging within the building. The curator, Rachel K. Ward, has asked that supporters of the show email Ralph Tragale at the Port Authority (rtragle@panynj.gov and 212.435.3730) to ask that the show be re-opened.

Looks awesome! Any idea what is up with the site saying “Terminal 5 was closed by the Port Authority based upon the actions of guests on Friday, October 1″

That is so hot. If someone would pay me I’d hang out there all day and beat down anyone that would try to vandalize it. Seriously.
