While you’re up, avoid the BQE

Today’s slalom included the following moguls: 1. Two westbound lanes out of four closed; 2. a fender-bender in the left lane between Hamilton and Atlantic; 3. a giant chunk missing from the right-lane pavement on the Brooklyn Bridge; 4. a limo with a flat tire half-in and half-out of the right lane on the FDR northbound.
I get onto Second Avenue just in time to see a bus flatten a mailbox. It’s not a full moon; what gives?

I freakin’ love your traffic posts. Coming from California to New York has left me not craving the idea of sitting in traffic, but the stories that arose when shit was fucked up on the freeways, highways, general SF streets. It was so watercooler gossip fodder.

It does become this bonding thing. Although I must say I’ve never understood all the complaining SoCallians do about the traffic there. Dude, it’s moving. You’re going fifteen mph, but…you are in fact GOING. Those people would lose their minds on a tunnel approach that takes forty minutes to go half a mile.
